Turmeric Surprise

March 23rd, 2017 Drink of the Week 6 comments

Ok this is a bit random but I met a woman in the supermarket who was buying fresh turmeric and I asked her what she was doing with it. She told me how to make this paste and said you can mix it with still water, sparkling water, hot water, cranberry juice (or any juice you like), or milk for a creamy drink! So I followed her lead, bought my first ever fresh turmeric and made this paste. So far I’ve only mixed it with water from the tap and it is very drinkable – delicious, warming and slightly spicy. Also guaranteed to make your feel like a saint!!

To make the paste:
Ingredients:
200g fresh turmeric
2 tbsp runny honey
Freshly ground black pepper
Juice of 2 lemons
1 cup water

Method:
Peel or scrub the turmeric then grate it.
Add runny honey, lemon juice and pepper, water and stir.
Transfer into a blender or Nutra Bullet/Ninja thingy and blitz until smooth.

To make a drink:
Add 2 tbsp of the turmeric paste to your mixer of choice.

Enjoy!
