Sobriety is perfectly perfect (not)

Perfectly perfect, not
Sober is glorious, it's heaven on earth, peace at all times.

Sober is everything smooth forever more, no more worries about anything, no more fears, no more dramas.

Sober is perfection - perfect moods, perfect relationships, perfect career choices, perfect eating habits, perfect reactions to things.

Everything perfectly perfect all of the time.

Yeah right.

Sober is none of these things.

Sober is bumpy, awkward, raw, exposing, messy, scary and emotional.

It's tears that come from the belly and rage that fires from the sternum.

It's awkward and revealing and dramatic. It's tricky interactions, uncomfortable days, low moods and messy dealings.

It is all of these things, many times over.

It is life.

Wonderful, glorious, messy, authentic, real, raw, demanding, rewarding, brave, honest life.

Not boring. Not dull. Just life in all it's undiluted glory.

The way it's meant to be.

Love, Mrs D xx

Sober Story: Molly

Interviews

"Physically, I feel that I was healed by about nine months. Just slowly felt better and began to feel healthier. Emotionally it’s still a bit of a process for me. Mostly due to the deafness."
