March 18th, 2024 Drink of the Week
Lovely subtle flavours in this drink. There are a few steps to go through but the syrup is enough for at least ten drinks and it will last for ages in the fridge. Just add fresh soda water and grapefruit juice any day you feel like a delicious & refreshing mocktail!
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 cup loosely packed fresh basil leaves
3 tbsp grated fresh ginger
Grapefruit juice
Fizzy water
First make a ginger/basil simple syrup by combining the first four ingredients in a saucepan.
Bring to the boil & stir for a minute until the sugar has dissolved.
Set aside to cool then strain and refrigerate.
To make each drink put ice cubes in a tall glass then add;
* 2-3 tbsp of the basil/ginger syrup
* 1/2 cup grapefruit juice
* Fizzy water
Garnish with fresh grapefruit segments and basil leaves
Enjoy!

Another delicious drink from foodie Annie Kenning: “This is a non-alcoholic cocktail that isn’t terribly sweet but tastes, looks and smells ‘adult’.
