Spicy Hot Chocolate

We’re supposed to be heading into summer here in New Zealand but as I type this the heat pump is on and it is blowing a gale outside. So I just made a spicy hot chocolate! Warming and comforting with a lovely spicy hum from the cayenne pepper. You could use sweetened drinking chocolate – just omit the honey.

Ingredients (for two drinks):
2 cups milk of choice
2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tbsp honey (or another sweetener)
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
1/2 tsp cinnamon

Method:
Put all ingredients into a saucepan and heat until the liquid almost reaches boiling point. Whisk until foamy and serve right away in your cup of choice.

Enjoy!

Sounds yummy, and it’s right in season here in Canada. I’m going to try this tomorrow!
