Cold and wintery in the Bay today. One of those days when your feet don’t warm up. I’m thinking about @Prudence in lovely warm Rome and all the delights that come with it. None of them booze haha. I am following a keto diet because my sugar addiction and back pain were out of control. Two months in and I am much improved. I have lost 5 or so kg which is a lot on my short frame and I am feeling heaps better. Next month there’s a bunch of us who will hit five years sober, @prudence included. What an amazing ride it has been and continues to be so. Thinking about lots of you today and what a bunch of starts you all are. Keep warm xx
Keto rocks. I’m 6 months ahead of you all, it’s lovely to see members in here from the early days racking up the years. Imagine when lots of members have 30 20 10 years sober. Mind you even one day is cool
I promise you it gets better. I remember sobbing with self pity and wondering when it would end. I never thought I could or would quit drinking. I can say without a doubt I never think about it now and I drank a bottle of wine every single day for years. Now I am almost 5 years sober and it was worth it. Hang in there please. You just have to trust me.
Hi Ro, I’m like to do volunteer work. Hospice, as a community visitor, for a while and then working with atypical kids which has turned into my current paid role. I have got my aspie teen helping out at a charity shop in town one day a week (when he’s not at tech) sorting goods. My teens are now 15 and 18 and I am dreading them going. Though the aspie one may take a while, hehe. Half of me is glad.
Crack up! I can just picture you getting the text, hehe. You sure will miss Rory. You have had him close for quite a while now. I can’t believe we are nearly 5 years. 25k of money not filtered through my organs! Happy Monday sweet xx
Shout out to @janus2 this morning who is in hospital feeling crappola. Thinking of you hun and sending get well thoughts to your misbehaving pancreas. You have battled the booze hard and won and deserve every bit of happiness in your new job and with your lovely man. Remember you mean a lot to us here and we have your back. xox
Hi tribe, it’s lovely to read about those of you who went to @prudence for the weekend catch up. It’s a calming place and I look forward to going again. Especially now flights are pretty reasonable. Love hanging with my day buddy and new old mate. (Old because it feels like one of those lifetime friendships) I’m doing great on my Keto plan to rid myself of back pain and sugar addiction and maybe hot flushes ( flab included). Back still huts but I have been sugar free for about 3 weeks. Family getting alot more salads and veg in their diet too so we can still all eat around the table which I like. We are going on holiday in two weeks and I will take lots of keto friendly snacks or it will be easy to slip back into bad habits. Pleased to say the waist of my jeans is no longer under desperate strain, he he. Not really to do with booze but I never had a sugar problem (that I knew) until I stopped drinking wine. @janus2 you asked about my fam a while back They are all doing great..my aspie teen happy and younger boy now 6 foot at 14 and tucks me under his chin. Life is good and don’t miss the old days for a blink. xx
Hello there 🙂 Nice to hear from you. I’ve got a sore back too, and could do with losing a kilo or three off the front. Can’t be fucked exercising though and enjoy chocolate and other treats on the regular. Have a good friend at work that has lost 13kilos doing the keto eating. She had to stop because she didn’t want to lose anymore! If only that was my problem. Kids sound good. How’s Lockie? He’ll be big now. Is he a ratbag or a good boy? lol
Thank you everyone – just been to my GP, been referred to a Councillor – it’s almost a liberating feeling finally taking the step. Now to make the journey to discover what my triggers were to drink in the first place!
Hi Team, Firstly thinking of everyone in Chch today and lets all be a bit kind to ourselves. Proud and grateful to be a kiwi xx Over 1700 days!! Well how lovely to have my mate @Prudence up here for a few days. We are lethal shoppers together and had a super fun time. She has also inspired me to change my eating habits. I have a serious sugar addiction and also a buggered disc in my back that causes me grief. So, I have decided to go Keto like @Prudence and hope it helps with antiflam and kicks my sugar cravings. I’m a week in and doing really well. Thanks to my day buddy/shopping buddy and now food mentor.
lovely to hear from you! Yes I pretty much live completely sugar free now..and the main thing for me (aside from weight loss) is the mental freedom as I’m not craving the bloody stuff. But it did take me many years of sobriety to get on top of it. x
I’m off to a class this morning and then a busy afternoon being taxi for the kids. So glad I don’t have to fit drinking in and feel resentful of having to stay sober to drive. Have a good day folks and remember booze is a liar and a thief. xx
Hi guys a quick check in as the dinner hour looms. All is pretty good with life just ticking along. @Prudence and I had our 1600 days sober not so long ago and you know I will always remember the biggest milestone of 100 days for us both. Felt like a lifetime back then. I never thought I’d get out of the loop and now I have such freedom not to mention a grocery bill half the cost. If you’re in the early days have faith that it will get better and you just don’t need that shit! xx
Oh hello little stranger, good to see you back in this space. Really looking forward to my trip up to see you in a few weeks. I’ll give you all the goss then. Flat out at present, crazy busy on all fronts!! Will be ready for a wee rest xoxo
Lots of new members! Welcome all of you. This is a great place to be and has got me where I am today. It has kept me right on track and I have met some fantastic people. Keep coming here and posting when it gets tough. Have a great day xox
