@katzenjammer – I’m good. Back to a week sober and feeling great. I am training for a half marathon, so i went to my run clinic yesterday and did 16k. How are you? I’m suppose to be joining a step group tomorrow, The woman knows I missed the first meeting last wk due to relapse. Hopefully I can jump in tomorrow, even tho the steps haven’t exactly helped me in the past, Its good to be around other woman in sobriety and working towards a same goal. So I think im going to stick it out. Hows ur journey going?

    • Like you, I think I’d try anything at this point if it might help. I have ordered some supplements supposed to be very good for arthritis and part of my current excuse for drinking is to ease arthritic pain (What is going to ease my liver pain when it is buggered, I hear you ask). Let’s just throw everything at it. The lot. lol

Thanks to everyone that replyed on my first post. Its comforting to know so many people are going through or have been through this. Ive been trying to stay sober for a couple years now- but seem to only manage 30-90 days before I go on a bender, generally a weekend or up to a week then I reach out and go to meetings again etc. I guess its better than no sobriety, but Im still on a hampster wheel and I want long term sobriety. Maybe there is another approach other than AA that can help. Have another strong 24 you guys! to everyone thats listening, you aren’t alone and we can get through this together! Xx

Rational recovery 🙂 check it out

    • I used Rational Recovery on Ro’s suggestion and it flipped the switch to off in my head. It’s still hard work, but using the principles of AA, and other tools you can put together a program which works just for you. Like we say, take what works and leave the rest!

    • I will be with you in not having a drink today 🙂

    • Hi there @kat102542. I can so resonate with your post. Im the same as you. I go to AA,but feel such a failure having relasped so many times! And I hate shareing–not a public speaker. This site is very valuable to me and I feel more at home here than in the AA rooms. Do whatever works for you.

@chordaroy thank you! I know I am close, I do want that freedom back. Day 2 – seems like not much to be proud of, but get feeling better soon, the body takes time to heal. Then of course I need to put in some more work that what i was doing with my mind. Too much internal thinking! Thanks for the encouragement!

Thanks for your encouragement KikiD! It has been a hard road, but the sober times are worth it. I am happy to have found a community where ppl understand.

Starting back on day one today. I have had many. I don’t want to give up, but I am frustrated with myself. I guess thats part of it, the guilt and shame. I am also feeling very sick, hoping this passes soon. Sorry I am not as cheerful! Looking to meet friends if anyone else wants to chat. Thank you 🙏🏻

    • I can assure you, most of the people here will have slipped up from time to time. The important thing is to not give up. You’re here, so be proud of that…. you will do this. Ride out today feeling sick, and look forward to your sober sleep tonight, and feeling better tomorrow. You got this! And you’re most certainly not alone.

    • Thanks for your encouragement KikiD! It has been a hard road, but the sober times are worth it. I am happy to have found a community where ppl understand.

    • We sure do understand hun. Don’t quit quitting. I feel very tired and anxiety it high but I know as you do this shit will pass. Day 2 for you tomorrow and so on. Be good to yourself and drink plenty of fluids. We can do this xx

      • Thank you so much! Yes, hour by hour then we can put days together again. We can do this, ur right 🙂

    • I’ve had a few day 1s the mistake I made is giving up on day 1s. It took me awhile, but I finally had my last day 1. Don’t quit quitting, no matter how many day 1s you have!

    • I read somewhere once, no shame in falling, only in not getting back up. Dust yourself off, let go, move forward positively. I’ve also had plenty of day ones. The good news is there is a different path for you and only you can find it and commit to it. It’s not always easy being sober but it has become for me very liberating. I hope your freedom from ‘the drink’, if that’s what you want, is close. Peace.

    • Keep posting. Hang out here for awhile. So many of us have walked in your shoes and understand. You’re not alone in this.

    • Good for you …..there’s many of us starting out on this road – I’m only Day 2 !!……it’s not a lonely journey that’s for sure …… we can keep each other strong and committed ….go you 🙂

      • Thanks @tewy things do get better the longer we go. Sometimes there are hard moments , but we need to reach out instead of internally thinking and thinking and isolating. Reach out anytime!

    • Hello @kat102542. I have relasped hundreds of times but still keep returning as you do—-thats the main thing–we dont give up. Im on day 9 again. lets keep going foward.

      • Thank u @annie
