Found this in a blog I was reading I once before gave up drinking for 5 years then thought I could be okay to have a drink. Now I know better.
“The most important thing is to accept that mistakes, lapses, relapses, busts, lessons, errant evenings, experimental breaks – whatever you want to call them – are statistically likely, no matter what route you choose. That means maintaining vigilance for old behaviors creeping back in, whether it’s six months, five years, or twenty years after you’ve curtailed your habits. Vigilance, purposefulness, meaningfulness, curiosity, goals and altruism – they’re your new stash. Keep them close.” By Jenny Valentish

the words of poet, Danna Faulds:

“Settle in the here and now.
    Reach down into the center
where the world is not spinning
    and drink this holy peace.

    Feel relief flood into every
    cell. Nothing to do. Nothing
to be but what you are already.
    Nothing to receive but what
    flows effortlessly from the
    mystery into form.

Nothing to run from or run
    toward. Just this breath,
    Awareness knowing itself as
    embodiment. Just this breath,
    awareness waking up to truth.”

Quoted by Tara Brach in a talk about releasing the over controller. Oh yeah….

    • Nice!

Amazing! I’ve started to meditate which helps so much, grounds me in the present, if only for a few seconds here and there. I love the poetry you post, @Morgan. Happy day/night!

Were I work I get people coming in after a night on the booze OMG they reek, now wonder did I ever smell that bad, I hope not. Been at a 21st drunk young ladies and men, girls refused food all night except for a few pieces of sushi, and most of the boys didn’t eat either. Drunk at any age is not a pretty sight that I do know

    • Breaks my heart that the young see it as a pass time.
What a waste of food!!! Hope the elders enjoyed it 🙂
