Good morning, sober warriors! I’m posting because I know from sad experience that today will be a trigger day. Yesterday was fun, fun, fun and today might be a bit of a letdown. I’m very grateful that I now recognize this and can be on guard and make plans.
So although the weather is lovely today, I plan to take it easy. Did a lot of physical stuff yesterday and my back is feeling it. Whatever doesn’t get done today will still be here tomorrow. Today will be a mellow embroidery day.
I will also check in here a few times to stay connected and grounded. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
Good for you for recognizing you need a plan for today. When I was struggling I made a list of everything that I could use to distract myself. Even though I enjoy yoga, swimming and walking, I needed more passive distractions on struggle days. Knitting, mysteries on tv and a large take out order of Thai food helped a lot. Also, I tried to do short times of household chores every hour or so for 10 minutes to help me feel productive, like folding laundry or cleaning the kitchen for 10 minutes at a time. Good luck.
