Awww! You sweet guy. Yes, husband has had some rough times, so that had to be my focus. Daughter had some major problems, too. The stress of both caused me to use my mornings for prayer and deep breathing. Sometimes it worked, others not, but, even sick, Steve took care of our daughter in ways I could not. What a great father! Love him all the more for it.

Thank you @Juliana. She is doing alright. Still a few challenges, but she is making positive steps. Hope your dayghter is doing well.

  • Good morning from Georigia, USA.
I have not posted for a while, but I read the posts every few days. My family has had some tough times lately and I find that quiet reflective time to myself is most healing right now. Some days have been full of heartache, but fortunately there have also been times of love and laughter. I have been retired about a month now, so I can take that time to myself that I need. Husband has had some serious health problems, but those are handled for now. I read and study a lot about living in the present moment. It takes practice to keep that mindset, but it helps. I am blessed by a loving family and wonderful friends. May the hours ahead hold some joy for each of us. 😊

    • Good morning @ChardaNO. It’s good to hear from you. I’m glad your retirement is giving you some time to yourself to reflect and learn during your family challenges. I hope your daughter is continuing to do better.

    • Nice to hear from you. Good on you for appreciating the things you do have, not always easy when all the tough stuff happens. Xo

    • Lovely❤️

    • So good to hear from you!!! oxoxox Lots of love your way.
May those difficult waves have passed for now and calmer waters await ahead.
Happy retirement beginning high five!!!! So well-deserved.

    • Good morning @ChardaNO and greetings from New York. I’m sorry that you’re having a touch time – but I sense so much hope and promise in your post. I’m thinking of retirement too – very daunting thought – empty hands with nothing but time. Holding off for now. Sounds like you have enough to fill yours. Family and friends and a positive forward thinking mindset. Good for you. Wishing you joy and peace in your hours ahead.

    • Well of course you haven’t posted in a while, don’t think we haven’t noticed! You’ve been missed. Every once in a while I go looking for you, and I see you lurking out there.

      • Awww! • I’ve missed you too @chardano. Lovely to see your update. I hope you have an easier path ahead, but admire your self-care techniques when things are tough. xx

    • Nice to see you here💛

So good to see you. I appreciated your shout out the other day. I am not on much lately. Lots to concentrate on at home right now. I like your idea of concentration. Best wishes 😊

  • @Ro, thanks for the shoutout. All is as well as can be. Son and daughter both doing well. Hubby has had his challenges with failing kidneys. Start in home dialysis today. It will be much easier than going to clinic 3 days a week. I will be a retired teacher at the end of May! Yay! My best to you and yours❤️

    • oxoxoxoxo Always so good to see you stop by, ChardaNO. oxxoxo Lots of love and healing to hubby and you, and may the 3 days per week clinic visit be easier and come up so soon. A friend of mine has polycystic kidney disorder run in his family and his dad had dialysis years ago…one son donated a kidney to him. My friend knows he has it too and it sober and does not smoke, walks every day and tries his best to delay the onset of dialysis. But he knows it is most likely coming. His dad is doing just fine and is in his 70’s, hiking, traveling the world etc.

      oxoxoxox

    • Hi 🙂 hope the home dialysis goes well for your hub. Sheebers what are you going to do when you retire? It sounds so luxurious and I wish I could – still 20 yrs away for me. I can’t even imagine being able to work in 20 yrs the way my body feels now. Be nice to just not have to go to work. Dreams are free eh

Lovely to see you this morning @thor. The weather has been very busy this year, right? We have had beautiful weather this week, but storms are a brewin’! My husband is having a rough go right now as he developed a cruel respiratory infection and along with dialysis has been so weak. My son flew in from California to help out and keep him company while I teach during the day (May 30th……RETIREMENT, YAY ME!!) Take care, old friend. Hello to any of the old morning crew who may be reading. Let’s take good care of ourselves and those around us today.😊❤️

Beautiful number, @liberty. I googled the “angel number 1111. It said, “The number 1111 encourages you to create new beginnings, make new opportunities, and work on new projects with a strong and positive attitude. Angel numbers 1111 symbolize the universe has opened an energy doorway for you.” 😊 Congratulations.

Congratulations, @Robynb! Just for fun, I googled the “angel number,” 888. It means: Your life purpose is fully supported by the Universe. The Universe is abundant and generous and wishes to reward you! 😊

  • Good morning from Georgia, USA. Those who know me are aware of my husbands situation. There are so many new faces here, I will give a brief update. Like so many baby boomers, my husband contracted hepatitis c. At 52 he had a liver transplant. We had ten good years following, but his kidneys were compromised since the transplant. They never functioned normally again (common side effect in liver transplant patients). Now he truly needs a new kidney. Meanwhile, he has started dialysis. Eventually he will do it at home, where it can be done at night while he sleeps. I retire from teaching in June, which is good as We can spend these years enjoying as much as we can. People can live on dialysis for years. We still enjoy our grown children, watch good tv together, and enjoy good meals. I have learned the kidney friendly diet. Still lots of good food can be enjoyed. As for my retirement, I am pretty domestic, so I can’t wait to deep clean and organize at my liesure. Also, the state of Georgia has many rural areas and small historic towns to be explored. Once he is stable with in home dialysis, we can travel and the machine is portable. I adore searching the history of places. I do not post as often as I used to, but I do check in. As for my drinking history, this site has helped me have periods of sobriety and keeps me mindful if do drink. I am not asking anyone to follow my habits, I am just being honest. I was attracted to the site because it invited those of us who want to evaluate our relationship with alcohol to join. Do not guve up if you still drink sometimes. If your goal is permanent sobriety, this site is full of wonderful, exprienced people. There are also those who set 30 day or 90 day plans. My goal is to give alcohol less focus, and being grateful and enjoying whatever life may give more focus. After losing my beloved sister, and my very best friend to rare illnesses (both in their early sixties…TOO YOUNG), I am just…[Read more]

    • Hi @chardano good to see you. I’m glad to hear your husband is doing well … it sounds like he’s adjusting as are you. I like your approach … enjoying the moment you’re in. 😊

    • Nice to hear from you ChardaNo. I too am hoping to semi-retire this June, we’ll see how that goes. We bought a travel trailer, geez its a big thing, rather tough to back in anywhere. Have to watch out turning corners. My best friend from high school and college I still keep in touch with, and his wife walked a similar path as your husbands. She has her new kidney now; before that I can recall when they were pleased to switch to home dialysis. Thank goodness for hope.

    • Ohhh I always LOVE hearing from you!!! You were here since I signed up pretty much and it feels like running into an old friend in the store when you stop by. oxoxoxox So much love down to gorgeous Georgia! I am very glad hubby’s treatment is moving along and you have so much to look forward to….and we haven’t even started on the grandparents job yet. Yeah!!! That will be something super exciting to come soon maybe as well. 🙂
You are both needed and busy and plugged into life right here and now. Yeah for retirement!!!! God….that deep cleaning and puttering around the home…love it.

    • Really enjoyed your post. Glad to hear from someone else in Southern USA as I am down in Texas. Very impressed with your adjustments to your husband’s health condition which is inspiring. Appreciate your encouragement and honesty. Hope your husband does well and that retirement suits you which it sounds like it will! After an adjustment, I am loving mine now-especially the luxury of time slowing down to be with kids, grandkids, friends. Hope to see your post again soon.

    • Hello there! Have missed seeing you here. Glad things are smoothing out somewhat and always wishing you and yours the absolute best!

    • There’s so much warmth in your post, @Chardano. Your retirement plan sounds lovely.

    • Hi old friend @ChardaNO, good to see you here and know things are moving forward for you and your husband. I still read almost everyday and cheer people on or just say hi. Be well. xxx

All is well. It is HIM, going through most of it. He doesn’t need me to go with him to these things. My part is doing the cooking from scratch for the renal diet. I am learning, and making some pretty good meals. I am getting enough rest. Thank you, @Ro.

  • ChardaNO posted a new activity comment 3 months, 2 weeks ago

Hi there, @Tom4500. All is well, but very busy with husbands’ attending dialysis center 3 days a week, then classes to train for in home dialysis later. Thanks for thinking if me.

    • Hey there @chardano that all sounds pretty full on. Hope you get to have a breather every now and then 🙂

Good to hear from you, @IslandOne.

  • Good morning. Am I the first USA resident on this morning? Well, hello from a chilly Georgia. I am keenly aware that I have 11weeks left in my teaching career. I so look forward to retirement. Since my husband will soon be on nightly dialysis, we will be staying close to home. That is okay. I am a very domestic person. There are so many projects I want to do around the house, but were too much to undertake while working. Just having more time to linger over my coffee each morning will be a luxury. After my husband gets used to peritonial dialysis, we can travel with the machine. It is all a learning process. Well, have a good day/night ahead my friends.

    • Good morning from freezing Michigan!
      Congrats on your upcoming retirement!

    • congrats on getting to retire. that is quite an accomplishment. good morning from VA. know exactly what you mean about projects that get put to the side for a time when there is more ‘TIME’. be well.

    • Hi @ChardaNO! Congrats on your much-deserved retirement! Hope your last 11 weeks go well, from chilly Toronto. x

    • The next phase of you life, @Chardano! The extra time for coffee sounds lovely.

    • oxoxox Always so good to see someone – like you- from the old morning crew, ChardaNO. A few more weeks and then you get to reap the rewards for working so hard your entire life. You so deserve it. And I can see future visits to your beloved son and most likely some lovely grandkids soon as well they will need your help with. So much to look forward to!!! oxoxox Positive thoughts to your husband as he is going on his medical journey with the dialysis.

    • good morning from the very chilly Berkshire foothills! Congratulations on your retirement!

    • Hi Chardano! Full retirement, I’m a little jealous.

    • @chardano, your positivity is contagious today. I have just recovered enough to start really savoring not working right now. This coffee and being in my pjs whilst everyone is scrambling to get to work feels amazing. At 20 degrees and wind chill of 7 very happy to be going towards that time in my life. I am also thinking of retiring early and working per diem to have some money in my pocket. Be well and good to see you. HI @Tom4500!!

      • Hi @reena! Actually went looking for you earlier today because we hadn’t crossed paths in a while, and I guesss I wanted to be sure you were okay. Saw you were on yesterday! Busy times here. My desk is a mess.

      • @reena, glad you can stay inside and enjoy yourself in the frigid weather.

I am so sorry to hear that, @thor. I lost my sister and best friend within a year of each other. Two losses so close together left me feeling pretty empty. These words comforted me, “God is not in the event, He is in the response to the event.” Hugs to Mrs. Thor.

  • ChardaNO posted a new activity comment 4 months, 2 weeks ago

That is not a good feeling. Something that helped me when I was facing some tough stuff was to train myself to recognize when I was using “what if?” Thinking. Do not allow your mind to start creating scenarios about things that may never happen. Deal with what is right in front of you. This was something I learned in behavioral therapy. I also learned that deep breaths through the nose and out the mouth for a few minutes will activate your brain into a relaxed mode. Sending a big hug. Feel better.😊
